Baalbek

Baalbek, Lebanon

Approximately 86 kilometers northeast of the city of Beirut in eastern Lebanon stands the temple complex of Baalbek. Situated atop a high point in the fertile Bekaa valley, the ruins are one of the most extraordinary and enigmatic holy places of ancient times. Long before the Romans conquered the site and built their enormous temple of Jupiter, long even before the Phoenicians constructed a temple to the god Baal, there stood at Baalbek the largest stone block construction found in the entire world.

The origin of the name Baalbek is not precisely known and there is some difference of opinion among scholars. The Phoenician term Baal (as the Hebrew term Adon) simply means ‘lord’ or ‘god’ and was the title given to the Semitic sky-deity worshipped throughout the archaic Middle East. The word Baalbek may mean ‘God of the Bekaa valley’ (the local area) or ‘God of the Town’, depending on different interpretations of the word. Ancient legends assert that Baalbek was the birthplace of Baal. Some scholars have suggested that Baal (the Assyrian Hadad) was only one of a triad of Phoenician deities that were once venerated …

Xian Altar of Heaven

The Xian Altar of Heaven is the oldest of its kind found in China to date. It was reburied shortly after its excavation.

The oldest-known altar used in Chinese state religious practice was unearthed, then reburied, this past summer in the city of Xian by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Uncontrolled development around a mysterious circular mound prompted a 30-day salvage excavation. Constructed as early as the Sui Dynasty (A.D. 581-618), the so-called Altar of Heaven is more than 1,000 years older than a similar altar in Beijing…Twelve equally spaced staircases, representing Chinese astronomers’ division of the heavens into 12 parts, ascended from the ground to the highest platform. The 12 staircases are the most obvious peculiarity of the Xian Altar of Heaven……

Olmec giant heads

The mystery certainly more than 3,000 year old. Found buried 20 ft. deep, with the use of magnetic mapping. Who were they? They were more advanced than the Maya and the Aztecs. But where they come from, why they vanished one day and where they went – nobody knows..

Traditional archeology doesn’t have the answers–but if you believe that man has always been advanced you can see where they may have come from. The problem is uniformism again. Materialists want so much to show a steady and inevitable progression from cave man to advancing man but.. Bible believers understand that man began building cities right from the beginning. Man lived in caves as a result of catastrophies like the flood..that’s why for example you can find art in the caves of Lascaux technically and artistically on par with art of today –where scaffolding was built to reach the higher walls and why technologically inferior civilizations can be found on top of older civilizations with superior technology–like the Olmecs. “Readers of my books, and especially of The Lost Realms, as well as of a previous article on this website titled
